Opposition Leaders Surprise Gachagua With Birthday Celebration
On Saturday, opposition leaders held a surprise birthday celebration for former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, organized by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Photos posted online showed at least three birthday cakes on a table as an ecstatic Gachagua prepared to cut them, plates carefully laid beside him.
In a video released, opposition figures and fans can be seen singing “Happy Birthday” while the former DP smiles and joins in the party.
The celebration brought together several important opposition leaders, indicating political unity beyond the festivities.
Those attending included Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, Nyandarua Senator John Methu, and his Murang’a colleague Joe Nyutu.

Their appearance highlighted the developing bonds among sectors of the opposition as they publicly honored Gachagua on his special day.
Kalonzo, who appeared to take the initiative in organizing the surprise, also posted a poignant memorial note applauding Gachagua’s fortitude and commitment.
“Dear Rigathi, on this special day, I join all Kenyans of goodwill in celebrating you: A truthful man whose voice has never wavered even in the most turbulent of seasons,” Kalonzo wrote.
“Your journey is a testament to resilience, conviction, and an unwavering commitment to the people you serve.”

He also expressed his hope that God will give Gachagua more strength, wisdom, and good health so that he can continue fighting for justice and people’s dignity.
“Kenya needs men of your courage, and I am proud to walk this democratic path alongside you. Happy Birthday, brother. May this new year of your life be your greatest yet,” he said.

The birthday surprise occurred just hours after Gachagua’s wife, Dorcas Rigathi, paid her own moving tribute earlier that day.
“Happy birthday, my love,” she began, accompanying the message with a love emoji.
She praised his strength of character, wisdom, and integrity, describing him as a man of distinction and offering prayers for divine guidance and success in the year ahead.
Kenyan netizens also joined in celebrating the birthday of the former DP, flooding social media with messages of goodwill.
