WESTLANDS: Canadian Man Arrested For Stabbing THREE Worshippers At A Mosque
A Canadian national has been detained for stabbing and injuring three worshippers at a mosque in Westlands, Nairobi.
The event took place in a mosque along Waiyaki Way at 5 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
The intruder, armed with a sword, suddenly attacked the worshippers.
The motivation for the attack was not immediately known, according to authorities.
Witnesses reported that other worshippers apprehended the perpetrator and handed him over to the police, who responded quickly.

He was momentarily roughed up by worshippers before being apprehended and transported to the Anti-Terror Police Unit for questioning.
The suspect, who authorities said is being interrogated, is claimed to have a Canadian passport and is originally from Somalia.
Benson Kasyoki, the director of criminal investigations in Nairobi, acknowledged the occurrence and stated that it was resolved within minutes.

“He pulled a machete and injured three worshipers. He has been arrested and is now being interrogated,” he said.
The victims were brought to the hospital with several injuries.
The attack comes amid increased police operations throughout Ramadan, with authorities warning that some individuals are plotting strikes in cities.
Police said they stopped dozens of attempted attacks in Nairobi and other parts of the country.
