Kenya Ports Authority Announces 194 Internship Positions; How To Apply

The Kenya Ports Authority has announced 194 internship and apprenticeship opportunities for diploma and degree holders in various departments.

In a notice on Tuesday, March 10, KPA announced that the opportunities will run for a period of one year starting in April.

The programme aims to provide hands-on training and exposure to the maritime and logistics sector, allowing young professionals to gain hands-on experience in a real working environment.

KPA is pleased to announce 194 internship/apprenticeship vacancies across various departments,” the authority said in the notice.

The objective of the Kenya Ports Authority internship/apprenticeship program is to provide young adults with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and exposure to the real workplace environment.”

Among the areas with available positions are container terminal operations, engineering, information technology, supply chain management, corporate communications, research and marketing.

The authority also listed opportunities in marine engineering, civil engineering, safety and environmental management, ferry operations, security services and human resource management.

To qualify for the programme, applicants must be Kenyan citizens aged 27 years or below.

They must have graduated with an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate from a recognised institution between January 2023 and December 2025.

Candidates should also not have previously undertaken any internship programme or gained work experience related to their field of study since graduation, and must not have retired or exited formal employment.

Interested applicants are required to submit their applications online through the Kenya Ports Authority career portal before March 27.

However, the authority noted that the internship programme does not guarantee employment after completion, and successful candidates will be expected to serve the full 12-month internship period to benefit from the programme.

KPA also warned that incomplete applications will not be considered, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

The authority added that it is an equal opportunity employer and encouraged persons living with disabilities to apply, while cautioning that any form of canvassing will lead to disqualification.
