Journalist, Activist Hanifa Lands Radio Job For Hot Weekly Segment
Activist and journalist Hanifa Adan has landed a new job as a host for The Generation Report, a weekly segment on Radio Generation airing every Monday from 7 to 10pm.
She will join co-host Triciah Wayua to provide news roundups and analysis, drawing on her experience in youth activism and political reporting.
“Some personal news. I’ve joined Radio Generation as a host for the 7 to 10pm segment every Monday. Join us on The Generation Report as we bring you fresh, unbiased news,” Hanifa said.
The show offers commentary on current affairs and politics, providing expert insights and a breakdown of the top headlines across Kenya and internationally.
Hanifa studied journalism at the University of Nairobi and has been a columnist for the Daily Nation since April 2025.
As a columnist, Hanifa writes primarily on governance, social justice, and youth activism.
Hanifa rose to prominence during the Gen Z-led anti-Finance Bill demonstrations, where she actively protested and used social media to call for government accountability and challenge controversial policies.
She has recently been involved in political movements, including the Okiyah Omtatah team, which announced a presidential bid earlier this year.
Hanifa had also considered running for Nairobi Woman Representative but decided against it, citing limited campaign funds and a lack of political experience.
In 2024, she was recognised as Human Rights Defender of the Year, cementing her reputation as one of Kenya’s leading youth activists.
Her activism began in 2022 when she highlighted decades-long drainage issues in Nairobi’s Korogocho slums, her birthplace, gaining the attention of Governor Johnson Sakaja.
Since then, her work has expanded to include anti-abduction protests, femicide awareness, youth mobilisation and broader social justice issues.
Hanifa has faced public scrutiny over discouraging youth from storming the State House during the 2024 demonstrations.

She was also accused of mismanaging Ksh30 million intended to compensate protest victims but clarified that she did not manage the funds.
She verified individual cases and shared supporting documents.
Her online presence continues to play a central role in her activism, engaging young people and shaping discussions on policy, governance and social justice across the country.
In her new role, Hanifa is expected to bring her youth-focused perspective to the radio.
She’ll also provide in-depth coverage and analysis of current affairs while continuing to champion causes she has long advocated for.
