“Broad-Based Gov’t Secured Economic Stability!” – ODM’s Oburu Oginga Claims

Dr Oburu Oginga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has defended his party’s alliance with Kenya’s Kwanza administration.

Oburu claimed that the alliance has resulted in significant economic and political benefits for the party’s members and the country as a whole.

Speaking in Nyakach on Friday, the senior politician stated that ODM’s decision to collaborate with the broad-based administration allowed the party to influence major national decisions from within government structures.

“By being inside the room, we have secured economic stability with a projected 5.3 per cent Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, ensured the fair distribution of the Ksh.5 trillion development budget, and ended the exclusion of our people from national appointments,” Oburu stated.

The gathering, which gathered together party stakeholders, was aimed at developing a united strategy for ODM ahead of the 2027 general election.

Oburu asked party members to remain unified and support choices made by the party leadership, citing the disagreement between Linda Mwananchi and Linda Ground.

“We are calling on all members to speak with one voice and respect the strategic decisions of the party hierarchy as we continue to protect our legacy of social justice and devolution,” he stated.

The ODM leader also revealed that the party was intensifying grassroots engagement by empowering local leaders and Members of County Assembly (MCAs) to strengthen communication between the leadership and wananchi.

At the same time, Oburu announced that ODM had launched an aggressive membership recruitment campaign targeting young people and women through digital registration platforms.

“We are utilising digital portals to register more youth and women to ensure we have the numbers and the energy required for a decisive 2027,” he noted.

He maintained that ODM’s cooperation with the ruling administration was intended to safeguard the interests of its supporters and ensure inclusivity in national governance.

“We are moving forward, not just as participants, but as the guardians of the people’s interests,” he added.
