Kenya’s Embassy Issues URGENT Advisory To Kenyans Living In UAE
Kenyans residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have received an urgent advisory from the Kenyan Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
This comes after a 30-day visa grace period was announced for those impacted by recent disruptions on regional flights.
The UAE government’s interim move to permit qualified individuals to regularize their residency status or depart the country without facing overstay penalties was communicated by the embassy in a statement released on Saturday, June 20.
The grace period will end on July 9, 2026.
“The Embassy wishes to inform Kenyan nationals in the UAE that the Government of the UAE has announced a 30-day visa grace period for eligible individuals affected by recent regional flight disruptions,” the statement read.

The embassy also advised eligible Kenyans to seize the chance by either making plans to leave before the deadline or regularizing their immigration status and staying in the nation legally.
Affected Kenyans have also been advised to immediately verify their visa status and complete any visa renewal, status change or departure procedures as soon as possible and no later than July 9.
The advisory comes amid travel disruptions experienced across parts of the Middle East in recent weeks, which affected flight schedules and left some travellers unable to complete their journeys as planned.
The latest announcement marks another significant immigration-related directive from the UAE affecting Kenyan nationals and travellers.

In 2022, the UAE announced plans to extend tourist visas for Kenyans from one month to six months in a move aimed at boosting trade, business travel and economic cooperation between the two countries.
At the time, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade said the decision was intended to encourage more Kenyan entrepreneurs and businesspeople to explore opportunities in the Gulf nation.
The latest visa relief also comes as relations between Nairobi and Abu Dhabi continue to deepen across multiple sectors, including trade, investment and security cooperation.
Just days ago, senior officials from Kenya’s Treasury and the State Department for Defence held talks with a delegation from Abu Dhabi.
The meeting spoke on possible collaboration under the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Modernisation Programme, further reflecting the growing ties between the two countries.
