IEBC Announces Brief Suspension Of Some Voter Services After Uproar

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced a temporary disruption in some online voter services as it upgrades its ICT systems.

The clarification follows widespread concern on social media on Tuesday after many Kenyans reported receiving a “Search results not found” message when they entered their national ID numbers on the voter verification portal.

This prompted fears that their voter registration details had been removed.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the commission stated that the exercise is intended to improve the dependability, security, and performance of its services.

The upgrade will temporarily impact public voter search services provided through the IEBC’s online verification portal, as well as voter transfer services and requests for modifications to voter registration information.
