Tahmeed Bus Issues Fresh Details From Fatal Konza Crash
Tahmeed Express has released a statement detailing the circumstances surrounding a deadly road accident involving one of their buses in the Kapiti section of the Mombasa-Nairobi route.
The transportation business confirmed that six passengers died in the tragedy.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, July 7, the bus business stated that one of its buses was involved in an accident just after midnight, killing six persons, including the bus’s driver and the driver of a vehicle involved in the disaster.
According to the firm, the accident was caused by a collision between two trucks, one of which impacted the bus.
“It is with profound sorrow that we confirm one of our buses, KDL 079S, was involved in a fatal road traffic accident in the Kapiti area of Konza shortly after midnight today,” the company stated.
“We deeply regret to confirm that six people lost their lives in the incident, including our driver and the driver of the truck involved.”
“Preliminary information suggests an overtaking pulling truck was struck from behind by a second truck, causing it to collide with our bus,” it added.

The statement comes after several people were feared dead following the midnight crash, involving multiple vehicles, including the bus, which had 50 passengers.

According to Tahmeed, Several passengers aboard the bus sustained minor injuries.
They were taken for medical attention, with the company noting that most of them were treated and discharged, after which a rescue bus was arranged to continue their journey.
Five passengers, however, remained under medical observation and were later discharged and continued their trip aboard the 8 a.m. Nairobi-Mombasa service.
The latest tragedy comes amid growing concern over the rising number of fatal road accidents on Kenyan highways, with several deadly crashes reported across the country in recent weeks.
Just three days ago, six people were killed and five others injured in another grisly road accident involving a 14-seater matatu and a trailer at Kamara in Mau Summit along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
The series of fatal crashes has renewed calls for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), particularly along major highways.
