DCI Dismantles Sexual Exploitation Rings, Rescues 48 Women
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) apprehended many people after dismantling two suspected sexual exploitation rings and rescuing 48 women in Ongata Rongai and Kiserian.
According to a statement, the directorate carried out coordinated operations against suspected networks accused of exploiting young women through commercial sex activities and the creation of obscene material.
“In the fight against sexual exploitation and the production of obscene material, detectives have ramped up their operations in Kiserian and Ongata Rongai, uncovering shocking enterprises preying on our young women,” read the statement issued on Friday, July 24.
Detectives conducted the first raid in the Rimpa district of Ongata Rongai based on tips from the public and discovered 30 women aged 19 to 27 inside a home.
Officers discovered seven laptops equipped with cameras and other equipment suspected to have been used to create pornographic material.
The suspects arrested during the operation were taken to Ongata Rongai Police Station as investigations continue ahead of their arraignment.
In a separate operation in neighbouring Kiserian, detectives rescued 18 women who police said had allegedly been lured with promises of domestic jobs before being subjected to sexual exploitation.

Mobile phones, laptops and other items believed to have been used in the suspected offences were also seized as exhibits.
Detectives said efforts are underway to trace and arrest the suspected organiser of the Kiserian operation.
The rescued women have been placed under police protection as authorities arrange safe shelter, psychosocial support and medical assistance.
Investigators are working to establish the full extent of the alleged operations and identify any additional suspects linked to the cases.
The DCI said the operations are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in sexual exploitation and the production of obscene material.
