Huduma Kenya Announces Free And Paid Government Services

Not all government services offered through Huduma centres are free of charge; citizens are required to pay for some services provided by government agencies, Huduma Kenya has clarified.

In a notice on Saturday, August 8, Huduma Kenya said the cost of a service depends on the specific ministry, department, or state agency responsible for that service.

The clarification comes amid growing questions over the agency charging Kenyans for services despite insisting that services are offered free of charge.

According to the agency, while many services are offered at no cost, others attract fees set by the respective government institutions.

“Are Huduma Services Free or Paid? While many services are offered at no cost, some require payment based on the official fees set by the respective government agencies,” the agency noted.

It further maintained that it does not collect any revenue from the delivery of services to citizens.

Instead, when a particular service is chargeable, the applicable fee is set by the government agency responsible for that service, so the money goes directly to the government entity, not to Huduma Kenya.

Citizens may also incur a convenience fee when making payments through the eCitizen platform, with the final amount depending on the nature of the service and the government institution providing it.
