Fresh Details Emerge From Chaos At DP Kindiki’s Meeting In Embu
The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a stern warning against individuals involved in violent clashes that erupted during a public meeting presided over by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki in Nembure, Embu County.
In a statement on Saturday, September 12, NPS said a group of uninvited individuals stormed the DP’s meeting, prompting the officers to use force to disperse them.
According to the police, during the operation, one person was killed, while several others were injured.
At the same time, properties worth millions of shillings, including six cars, were also destroyed and burned.
“The National Police Service condemns in the strongest possible terms the outrageous and criminal conduct of a group of individuals who attempted to storm a public meeting presided over by the Deputy President, H.E. Prof. Kithure Kindiki, in Nembure, Embu County,” NPS stated.
However, several suspects linked to the deadly incident were also arrested before peace was restored at the scene.
“Upon the group’s unlawful attempt to breach the meeting, officers acted decisively and repulsed the assailants,” it added.
“Several suspects were arrested at the scene, and law and order was swiftly restored.”
NPS said it had begunΒ investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incidentΒ and identify all those involved.
“Regrettably, one person was fatally injured, six vehicles were torched, and several persons were injured during the chaos,” the statement read.
“Investigations have commenced to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident, and no effort will be spared in identifying and bringing to justice all persons involved.”
It further warned that any person found to have participated in the incident or any other similar incident will be dealt with in accordance with the law, urging the public to maintain law and order.
“Let this serve as an unequivocal warning: any individual found to have participated in this or any similar act of lawlessness will be pursued relentlessly,” police said.

“Stern action will be taken in accordance with the law. There will be no exceptions.”
The warning comes as the police face the task of determining how the confrontation escalated and establishing the circumstances that led to the death, injuries and destruction of property.
Chaos erupted at the Nembure Stadium, where Kindiki led a UDA meeting, with groups of local youths reportedly denied entry into the venue.
The incident quickly escalated into running battles involving crowds, opposing groups and police officers, forcing the security officers to evacuate Kindiki.
The DPΒ condemned the violence andΒ called on law enforcement agencies to take actionΒ against those responsible for the disruption and destruction.
He further directed UDA leaders in Embu to establish the extent of losses and damage caused by clashes and coordinate a response to those affected.
