‘His Victory Will Bring Continental Progress!’ – Gachagua’s Message To Raila Ahead Of AUC Polls
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has thrown his support behind Raila Odinga, Kenya’s candidate for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship, ahead of important elections.
Gachagua rushed to social media Friday morning to show his support, claiming that Raila is the best candidate to lead the AUC forward.
“Odinga is undoubtedly the best bet for the African Union Commission chairmanship. Africa deserves the best,” he stated.
The former Deputy President believes that Raila’s leadership will create unity across Africa’s regions by leveraging his vision and steadfast support for African people.

He also underlined the necessity for a leader capable of bridging the divide between Africa’s Anglophone and Francophone communities, so building a united continent for the future.
In his own words, Gachagua’s endorsement of Raila is based on the assumption that his victory in Ethiopia will validate his Pan-African spirit and vision.

“Raila Odinga’s victory will be a progressive move for Africa and a testament to Kenya’s influence at the continental level,” he concluded.
In elections held in Ethiopia’s capital on Saturday, heads of state will vote to pick the next AUC Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson.
According to AU norms, voting is conducted by secret ballot and will continue until one of the candidates receives the support of two-thirds of the 55 AU member states, which equates to 33 votes.
Raila will compete against Mahmoud Ali Youssouf of Djibouti and Madagascar’s Richard Randriamandrato in the exercise scheduled for February 15 and 16.
