Murkomen Speaks About Panga-Wielding Protestor Who Confronted Police
Kipchumba Murkomen, Interior Cabinet Secretary, has responded to the recent incident involving a panga-wielding man and police officers in Nakuru.
Speaking on Friday, June 13, the CS chastised Kenyans for backing the man, pointing out that the situation could have easily become chaotic.
“You see police officers trying to restore calm but then you see a man with a panga going after the police officers. Yet you will find some citizens cheering such a person on social media or today,” Murkomen stated.

He stated that the government would be stricter with such persons and that the State would “hold civilians accountable.”
He used the recent incidence of a police officer’s hand being severed during fatal clashes between residents and police in Narok over a livestock-related issue as an illustration of what could happen when such incidents get chaotic.
At the same time, he praised the police officers for their composure in the face of the man’s threats.

The altercation reportedly became violent as citizens confronted the officers, causing them to shoot into the air to disperse the gathering.
