After completing the application form, applicants should submit it to the principal secretary of the Ministry of Defence Office by January 20, 2026 for consideration.
KDF offered fair and equal treatment regardless of tribe, age, gender, or race, inviting all Kenyans from all walks of life to be considered.
It did, however, warn that individuals who intend to use illegal means to obtain the position will be automatically rejected and face the consequences.
It further stated that the application was free and that the public should report any sort of solicitation for money to their offices.
To be considered, an applicant must be a Kenyan citizen with a valid national identification card. In terms of schooling, applicants should have at least a D in KCSE.
The gardeners will be paid a basic wage of Ksh19,000 to Ksh24,000, a home allowance based on the area of deployment, a commuter allowance of KSh 3,000, and a Ksh 4000 annual leave allowance.
Sanitary cleaners, on the other hand, would earn a basic pay ranging from Ksh18,000 to Ksh22,000, plus the same commuter and leave allowance.
All of these perks will be accompanied by a permanent and pensionable contract.
Civilian occupations within the KDF are typically overseen by the Ministry of Defence, and their functions differ from those of uniformed military soldiers.
Individuals in civilian roles can help military activities without undergoing the intensive training required of KDF personnel.
Those who would be hired will also benefit from the Ministry’s newly launched Career Progression Guidelines (CPGs) for civilian staff.
The CPGs were launched in June 2025 to ensure structural growth and subsequent promotions for the civilian personnel.
