Popular Ghanaian Travel Vlogger Loses ‘Expensive’ Camera at JKIA
After losing her DJI camera at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) while visiting the restroom on her first trip to Kenya, a Ghanaian digital creative expressed her disappointment.
According to the travel vlogger named on social media as Efyakimora, the compact camera was stolen while she was inside the lavatory, despite other travellers being present.
The loss, according to Efyakimora, who is well-known for chronicling her travels across many nations, was even more agonizing.
Which airport or country would you confidently say I’d have gotten my camera back after forgetting it in a washroom for just 15 minutes? https://t.co/z3e0HjaDxr

This is because the stolen camera, which she used to vlog and film trip adventures, was a gift from one of her followers and valued at between Ksh64,500 and Ksh90,300.
According to the clip producer, a woman in the restroom at the time verified seeing the camera but mistook it for a built-in fixture, while a cleaner on the scene said she didn’t notice it.
After reporting the event to airport security, who promised to assist by analyzing CCTV evidence, she later revealed that the procedure was complex.
This is owing to the lack of cameras in the restrooms, and non-authorized individuals were only granted restricted access to surveillance footage.
With over 20 ladies having visited the restroom during that time, pinpointing the culprit became impossible.
Despite the setback, Efyakimora remained positive, stating that she will continue to create trip content on her phone.
She noted that she could not cancel her flight or accommodation bookings, despite being on a tight budget following a trip to Bali, before Nairobi.
You guys won't believe what just happened to me 😭

Efyakimora was advised to file a formal complaint at the airport, but no staff were available at the complaint desk at the time.
As a next step, she plans to contact her camera’s manufacturer to retrieve the camera’s serial number in hopes of getting assistance from the company.
