KeNHA Flags Viral Eviction Notice Along Busy Highway
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has denounced as false a public notice circulated online stating plans to clear traders working within the road reserve along Murang’a Highway.
In a statement, the Authority warned members of the public not to fall for the alleged notification dated February 27, 2026, which asks traders to remove their stalls, kiosks, buildings, and merchandise within seven days.
“The notice currently circulating online alleging that the Authority intends to clear encroachments within the road reserve along Murang’a Highway is false,” KeNHA said.
The fake notice, labelled “PUBLIC NOTICE CLEARANCE OF ALL ROAD ENCROACHMENTS No. 736,” further says that the clearance is intended to permit the building of designated roadside stalls to promote safety and minimize congestion.

It also wrongly asserts that traders who want to continue operating must pay an annual charge of Sh70,000 per stall, receive county approvals, and follow various regulatory regulations.
KeNHA distanced itself from the document’s content and structure, calling it deceptive and unapproved.
“KeNHA has not issued any such directive and has not authorised any individual to issue the said notice on its behalf,” the Authority said.
“Members of the public are advised to disregard the fake notice in its entirety.”
The supposed notice was signed by an individual known as Eng. Quinter Omondi.
However, the roads agency emphasized that the name does not relate to any official notification about the Murang’a Highway.
The Authority emphasized that any official communication about road reserves, enforcement actions, or infrastructure projects is distributed through its verified platforms in compliance with established legal and administrative procedures.
“KeNHA remains committed to transparent engagement and lawful management of the national road network,” the statement added.
