President Ruto Jets Back From The United States In A State Visit

President William Ruto has returned home after a four-day state visit to the United States, where he was hosted by his colleague Joe Biden.

He was met at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) by Head of Public Service Felis Koskei, Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki and his Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome, and Kenya Air Force Commander Major-General Fatuma Gaiti Ahmed, among others.

The President earlier indicated that Kenyans will profit from multi-trillion shilling deals with the United States in a variety of sectors including commerce, health, security, infrastructure, education, and technology.

He also obtained financing for several sectors and military aid during his visit to the United States, with his administration’s anticipated deployment of police to Haiti being a crucial point of conversation with US President Joe Biden

“We want to move Africa from an opportunity to investment, we do not need aid, we want to combine the technology of the US in benefiting youth through the creation of jobs,” Ruto said during an interview with CNN.

The visit also celebrated the 60th anniversary of the official cooperation between the United States and Kenya.

The projected Ksh.471 billion Nairobi-Mombasa dual carriage road is at the top of a long list of multi-trillion shilling investments secured by President Ruto during his three-day State visit.

Kenya will become the first Sub-Saharan African nation to be designated as a Major Non-NATO Ally.

The United States is designated for countries with close and strategic working relationships with its military and defense civilians.

Kenya is also scheduled to get 16 US-made helicopters, 8 Hueys and 8 MD-500s, between late 2024 and summer 2025, to strengthen its capabilities to provide regional peace and security and engage in peacekeeping operations.

In addition, 150 M1117 Armoured Security Vehicles from U.S. Excess Defense Article inventories are expected to arrive in Kenya in September 2024.

Google, Marathon Digital Holdings, Acorn Holdings Limited, Siemens Healthineers, the United States International Development Finance Corporation, Kenyan business M-Kopa, Semiconductors Technologies Limited, and Microsoft have also agreed to invest USD 2 billion in the country.
