“Celebrations Are Over, It’s Time For Work!” – Gachagua To Ol Kalou MP
Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) party leader Rigathi Gachagua has urged newly sworn-in Ol Kalou MP Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru to put the election behind him and focus on serving the people who entrusted him with the constituency’s leadership.
In a message shared shortly after Kamau took the oath of office in the National Assembly on Tuesday, Gachagua congratulated the first-term legislator on his swearing-in, reminding him that the campaign period had ended and the real work had begun.
“Campaigns and celebrations are now over, and it is time to work. Always remember to listen to your people; the people who elected you,” Gachagua said.
He encouraged the DCP lawmaker to settle into office quickly and begin implementing his mandate, expressing confidence that Kamau would live up to the expectations of Ol Kalou residents.
“I encourage you to settle down quickly and start serving the people of Ol Kalou, who gave you such a decisive mandate,” Gachagua said.
The former Deputy President also said he believed the new MP would not disappoint his constituents, citing his previous public service experience.
“Everything in my mind hopes that you will not disappoint your constituents, having worked with me when you served the country with commitment and distinction,” he said.
Kamau was officially sworn in as the Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou during Tuesday afternoon’s sitting of the National Assembly, presided over by Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
After taking the oath, the MP later shared a message on his official X account, saying: “And finally, I have taken the Oath of Office to serve the patriotic people of Ol Kalou Constituency. So help me God.”
His swearing-in formally marked the beginning of his parliamentary term following his victory in the recent Ol Kalou by-election.
Gachagua also congratulated the people of Ol Kalou for what he described as a decisive electoral outcome and said the by-election victory marked an important milestone for the Democracy for the Citizens Party.
He said the win gave the party its first Member of the National Assembly and expressed optimism about its future political ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Kamau won the Ol Kalou parliamentary seat after defeating eight other candidates in the by-election.
Running on the DCP ticket, he secured more than 35,440 votes, comfortably beating UDA candidate Samuel Muchina Nyagah.
Nyagah garnered about 5,450 votes, according to results announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
The by-election attracted significant political attention, with both the Kenya Kwanza administration and opposition leaders holding campaigns across the constituency.
The heated mini poll was widely viewed as an early test of political support in the Mt Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Election.
While travelling to Parliament for his swearing-in, Kamau boarded a public service matatu from Ol Kalou to Nairobi.
He DCP MP shared photos and videos of the journey on social media while thanking God and the people of the constituency for electing him.
