Female Officer Found Dead With Gunshot Wound Inside Police Station
Police have launched investigations into the death of a female officer who was found with a gunshot wound inside a room at Kisii Central Police Station under circumstances that remain unclear.
The officer, identified as Marjorie Bosibori, was discovered dead on the morning of Tuesday, July 29, with preliminary police findings indicating she sustained a gunshot wound.
Investigators are now working to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
According to Kisii Central OCPD Musa Amani, Bosibori had reported for her night shift on Monday, July 27, armed as required.
The officer carried out her duties alongside fellow officers before returning to the station shortly after midnight.
“The officer whom we lost was able to report to work yesterday evening while armed. She went to work with her colleagues, and they returned together at around midnight,” Amani said.
The OCPD alleges that Bosibori subsequently entered the station’s communications room, which was not frequently in use at that time, and locked herself inside, with her colleagues not suspecting anything wrong.
It was not until the following morning, when another officer went to open the room, that they discovered it was locked.
“No one knew what had happened until this morning, when a colleague came to open the office and found it locked,” he added.

“They forced the door open and found the officer lying inside, with her firearm beside her.”
Preliminary police findings indicated that she had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, with the bullet exiting through her back.
The incident has left her colleagues shocked, with police saying there had been no apparent indication that she was contemplating taking her own life.
“We never expected such a thing to happen because she had not shown any signs of distress or suicidal thoughts,” the OCPD added.
Police said they had also not established anything that could explain why the officer may have taken the step, with the OCPD noting the officer did not show any signs of mental distress or stress.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear as investigators work to establish what happened inside the radio room and what may have led to the alleged shooting.
