KUCCPS Announces Portal Opening Date As Application Window Closes
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced a second revision window for course applications, even as the current application portal officially closes at midnight on May 6, 2026.
KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Wahome, on Wednesday, May 6, stated that students who fail to apply or secure placement in the first round will have another opportunity to revise their choices between May 16 and May 22, 2026.
Wahome reiterated that the move to open the portal for the second revision next week is aimed at ensuring no eligible student is left out of the placement process.
“For those who may not meet today’s deadline or fail to secure their initial choices, there will be a second chance: No student will be left behind,” said Wahome.

“Following the closure of the portal tonight, we will process applications and then re-open for a Second Revision from May 16 to May 22, 2026, for those who may need to adjust their choices,” he added.
The announcement comes as KUCCPS issued a final call to 2025 KCSE candidates to complete and submit their applications before the deadline.
While more than 80 per cent of the students have already selected the preferred courses, the CEO warned that a significant number had not finalised the process, with many having their applications in the course basket.
“Adding programmes to the course basket is not an application. You must complete the process and submit your choices before the midnight deadline,” she reiterated.
According to KUCCPS, out of 268,714 candidates who attained the minimum university entry grade of C+, about 207,308, representing 77 per cent, had successfully submitted their applications by the morning of May 6.

The placement agency also reassured candidates and parents that there is sufficient capacity across institutions.
Additionally, KUCCPS noted that this year, applications were opened for 508 institutions, including universities and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges, offering a combined capacity of over 1.4 million slots.
Of these, 322,396 slots are available in universities, while more than 1.1 million are in TVET institutions, presenting wide opportunities for students across different academic levels.
As the first application phase comes to a close, KUCCPS has urged all eligible students to act promptly and ensure their submissions are complete, ahead of the processing phase and the upcoming second revision window.
