The latest incident comes just five days after a similar tragedy in which one person died, and several students were injured when a matatu carrying Ngondi Junior School learners overturned.
The vehicle lost its brakes on Friday, June 13, 2026, before plunging into a valley along Maiella Road, with witnesses claiming that the poor condition of the road also contributed to the accident.
In the accident, the driver of the matatu reportedly died on the spot, leaving 10 learners sustaining various degrees of injuries, but they were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The back-to-back accidents have intensified concerns over school transport safety standards amid calls for stricter enforcement of vehicles across the country.
