KUCCPS Warns Of Inter-University Transfer Applications Fraud Alert

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has stated that the university transfer application window has not yet opened, and students are being warned about bogus application forms that are circulating online.

In a notification released on Friday, July 10, the placement agency warned students and parents to disregard false material that claimed they could already submit transfer applications.

KUCCPS stated that transfer application dates will be notified via its official X account, website, and student portal.

“Students, parents and the general public are advised that KUCCPS has NOT started receiving inter-institutional transfer applications,” the notice stated.

“Application dates will be announced soon through this X Page, the KUCCPS website and the Students’ Portal.”

The warning comes after a Google Form was circulated in student organizations and online forums where students were looking for information about KUCCPS, the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), and the Higher Education Fund (HEF).

The fraudulent form claims to help students transfer between universities, TVET institutions, KMTC colleges and teacher training colleges.

It also instructs applicants to pay Ksh1,000 for the transfer and an additional service fee of Ksh600 through a mobile payment number before submitting the application.

KUCCPS cautioned students against making any payments or sharing personal information through unofficial platforms.

The agency reiterated that all genuine transfer applications are submitted exclusively through the official KUCCPS Student Portal once the application window opens.

Under the official process, applicants log into the portal, select the transfer application option, choose their preferred institution or programme and state the reason for the transfer.

Applicants are then directed to pay the prescribed Ksh1,000 fee before submitting the request using an eCitizen payment reference code.

The clarification comes days after KUCCPS placed 293,869 students into degree, diploma, certificate and artisan programmes ahead of the September intake.

The scam appears to target students and parents seeking expedited action after expressing dissatisfaction with their placements and raising questions about how KUCCPS allocated applicants to various institutions and courses.
