Gachagua Asks Bombshell Questions On MP Ng’eno’s Fatal Chopper Crash, Links It To Fuel
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has raised fresh concerns over investigations into the death of former Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno, who died in a helicopter crash in February 2026.
While speaking during a media briefing on Tuesday, August 11, Gachagua claimed that he has intelligence that the fuel that was used in the helicopter was transported from Lodwar and was used to refuel the aircraft shortly before the fatal incident.
Gachagua said he had received intelligence indicating that, after Ng’eno was dropped off at Endebess, Trans Nzoia County, the helicopter flew to Eldoret to refuel.
It is the fuel allegedly transported from Lodwar that the former DP claims was used in the helicopter.
“On the fateful day after Ngeno was dropped at Endebess, the helicopter went to fuel in Eldoret,” Gachagua stated.
“The pilot didn’t know the fuel he was about to put in and had been transported to the scene from Lodwar.”
According to the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader, a vehicle believed to have transported jet fuel was detected by Kenya Revenue Authority officials at the Eldoret airfield.
It was intercepted, and its driver was questioned about the source of the fuel.
However, the officials were allegedly instructed from Nairobi to release the driver after he denied transporting the fuel.
“Immediately, this KRA official and the police at Eldoret Airstrip were instructed from Nairobi to release the driver if they cared about their lives,” he added.
Gachagua questioned whether the fuel could have contributed to the helicopter’s failure to gain sufficient altitude before the crash that claimed the life of Ng’eno and five others.
“Is it this fuel that caused the chopper not to pick up in high altitude? Is that why the pilot first came down and tried again to pick up? These are fundamental questions,” Gachagua posed.
He further demanded that the relevant authorities involved in the investigation, including the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), release the CCTV footage from the Eldoret airstrip to establish what happened at the facility on the day the helicopter was refuelled.

His remarks are likely to intensify calls for greater scrutiny of the helicopter’s movements, the source and quality of the fuel used, and the events at the Eldoret airfield before the aircraft’s final flight.
Ng’eno tragically lost his life alongside five other occupants on February 28, 2026, when their helicopter crashed in low-visibility weather at Chepkiep, Mosop in Nandi County.
According to the official flight timeline released by the Ministry of Roads and Transport, the helicopter made an emergency landing at Tabolwa at 4:20 PM due to poor weather conditions.
The pilot briefly engaged with local residents on the ground before taking off again at 4:25 PM. Air traffic control lost contact with the aircraft just one minute later.
Prior to the crash, the MP had also alighted for a public function in Endebess, Trans Nzoia County.
The chopper had also stopped at the Eldoret Airsport at the beginning of the unfortunate incident.
