Plot Twist As Kenya Police Lists 3 Achievements in Haiti Amidst Salary Delays Rumours

The National Police Service has issued an official statement highlighting accomplishments made by the force deployed in Haiti.

It has been two months since the first Kenya Police contingent to the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) to Haiti was deployed in Port-au-Prince on the Caribbean coast.

According to NPS, the MSS team is still in the deployment phase but is making progress with the Haiti National Police and Haitian citizens.

The National Police Service noted that the host police service’s cooperation has helped the contingent make progress in the two months since its deployment.

“Multinational Security Support Mission has managed to pacify threats to public safety and security,” read part of the official statement.

Furthermore, in the last two months, MSS has seized critical infrastructure, including the airport, from a local gang that was in control of it.

The deployment of the contingent also reopened critical roads that were previously closed.

The move has allowed thousands of Haitians to return home after fleeing for their lives.

The National Police Service has stated that it continues to collaborate closely with other countries, partners, and the United Nations to ensure continued support for the MSS.

In an effort to clarify and dismiss claims of troop delays, the service confirmed that deployed officers continue to receive their full pay.

“National Police Service officers continue to draw their NPS salaries and the processing of their MSS deployment allowances has also been finalized,” the service asserted.

The Service also commended the MSS Force Commander, Mr. Godfrey Otunge, SAIG, and his team for their patriotism and dedication to duty.

This comes just a week after the contingent received 24 armored vehicles on August 23.
