Another Fire Forces 2 Makueni Schools To Close Temporarily As Kenya Mourns Hillside Tragedy

Two schools in Makueni County have been temporarily closed due to separate fires in their dormitories.

This comes as Kenyans wake up to the news of a fire that killed 17 students at Nyeri’s Hillside Endarasha School.

The incidents happened at Maiani High School and St. Peter Claver Secondary School-Kithuki, both in Makueni County. In both cases, property with an unknown value was damaged.

According to one witness who was present at St. Peter Claver Secondary School, the fire started while the students were attending an entertainment session in one of the school hallways.

Firefighting units from the Makueni County Government were dispatched to the scene shortly after the fires started.

Two people have been arrested following the fire incident at St. Peter Claver Secondary School, and police are investigating the root cause of the two fires.

Meanwhile, a fire broke out at Maini High School as students were attending evening classes.

However, no casualties were reported from either incident.

The two schools have since been closed to allow for further investigations, and police have pledged to bring the perpetrators of the heinous act to justice.

The Makueni incidents come hours after 17 students were burned beyond recognition by an inferno that broke out at Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri County.
