TRIBAL MEETING: Kindiki Receives Strong Support From Tribesmen, Drive For Regional Development

Elected leaders from Embu, Tharaka Nithi, and Meru counties have unanimously agreed to support Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki as their primary liaison with the national executive.

In a Monday meeting, the leaders expressed confidence in Kindiki’s leadership, stating that his role would be critical in driving the region’s development agenda.

“We have unanimously agreed that Prof. Kithure Kindiki will serve as the official link between Mount Kenya East and the executive,” the leaders said in a joint statement.

“Through his leadership, we are confident that the region’s priorities will be effectively communicated, and our development goals achieved.”

The leaders thanked President William Ruto for appointing three key regional figures – Hon. Justin Muturi, Prof. Kindiki, and Eng. Eric Mugaa – as cabinet secretaries.

They emphasized that these appointments reflect the national government’s trust in Mount Kenya East and acknowledge the region’s growing influence in national affairs.

The meeting, viewed as a watershed moment for the region, centered on addressing Mount Kenya East’s socioeconomic and political needs, which have previously been overlooked.

The leaders promised to push for the completion of key infrastructure projects such as roads, water supply, and electrification programs that had been unfinished since the previous administration.

“These projects are vital for the prosperity and well-being of our people,” the statement continued.

“We urge the national government to prioritize their completion and ensure that our region continues to receive the attention it deserves.”

The leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining a robust and consistent dialogue with the national government.

This, they said, will ensure that Mount Kenya East’s voice continues to shape Kenya’s political and development agenda.

With a sizable voting bloc, the region’s leaders reminded the government that their involvement in national politics must be matched by tangible benefits for their constituents.

“We hold significant political weight, and our contribution to the national vote is undeniable,” they said.

“As we continue to support and oversight the government, we expect to see more development initiatives reflecting our influence.”

Employment opportunities were also discussed, with the leaders thanking President Ruto for the numerous job opportunities already provided to the region.

They advocated for even more job opportunities to be directed toward their people as part of a larger development agenda.
