Loose-Speaking Mbeere North MP Chased By Residents For Disrupting Morara Kebaso’s Event

On Saturday, Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku was booed and chased away by a throng assembled in Embu Town for activist Morara Kebaso’s civic education program.

In videos circulating on X, the unruly audience could be heard chastising the MP, forcing him to leave the event before having the opportunity to address the people.

Morara Kebaso, who was addressing his followers when the MP appeared, could be heard telling Embu locals that Ruku was the MP who introduced the contentious Maandamano bill.

“In Mbeere North had you not been promised a KMTC in Ishiara?” Kebaso quipped, “Let me ask you, is there anything Geoffrey Ruku can tell us? He is the one who sponsored the Maandamano bill,” Kebaso added.

Using the ‘Kenya ni Home’ statement that had brought him into conflict with Mercy Tarus, Kebaso urged the audience not to be afraid.

With the tide against him, the MP departed the event, while the delighted throng continued to scream for Kebaso.

Morara Kebaso had earlier in the day continued his project inspection efforts, this time visiting the ground to assess the Embu Governor’s home.

While on-site, Morara stated that Ksh49 million had been budgeted for the project, with Ksh27 million already paid to the contractors.

However, the project appeared to be delayed, as evidenced by the overgrown grass around the building and the unfinished shell that remained standing with no active development underway.

During the same Embu visit, citizens in Embu Town were spotted handing Morara money and celebrating him.

This deed comes only hours after he posted on his X account that he was willing to repay contributions to any Kenyan who believes he has not been carrying out his civic duty properly.

Morara questioned whether Kenyans have shown enough desire to see the country move away from a culture of wanton corruption and a lack of accountability.

Over the last few weeks, Kebaso has faced criticism from certain Kenyans who question the credibility of his civic education initiative.
