Ruto Close Ally Assures Mt Kenya Despite Gachagua Predicaments
Oscar Sudi, MP for Kapseret, moved on Wednesday to quell any potential uproar in Mt. Kenya over the impeachment motion filed against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Sudi assured the vote-rich region that if the second-in-command is removed, his replacement will still be from the region.
Sudi, a close ally of President William Ruto, claimed in a post on his official social media accounts that the Mt. Kenya region is central to the Kenya Kwanza government’s plans and that it is unlikely that the region will be isolated.
Sudi, who has been at odds with Gachagua in recent times, stated that President William Ruto’s wing of the Kenya Kwanza government has no issue with Mt. Kenya leaders except the DP.
There's no doubt Murima is at the core of this government.

No one has an issue with the majority of leaders from the mountain, save for one ill-behaved character. Even his replacement will surely come from the mountain. Sure Bet.
“No one has an issue with the majority of leaders from the mountain, save for one. Even his replacement will surely come from the mountain. Sure bet,” the MP posted.
This comes after Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse filed an impeachment motion against DP Gachagua on Tuesday, which was later supported by 291 lawmakers, exceeding the 117 threshold required to impeach a Deputy President.
Mt. Kenya leaders have accused President William Ruto of instigating Gachagua’s impeachment.
However, as the motion gains traction, President Ruto has remained silent on the matter, leaving Gachagua’s supporters and Kenyans in general guessing.
During a press conference on Wednesday, Mt Kenya leaders from Murang’a County, led by Senator Joe Nyutu, questioned Ruto’s silence.
They claimed that the impeachment motion was a political witch hunt intended to clip Gachagua’s wings ahead of the 2027 elections.
“This (Gachagua’s impeachment) would not have happened without Ruto’s blessing. They should know that divorcing Gachagua is divorcing the mountain,” Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu charged.
“We advocate for dialogue, let the two leaders sort out their issues amicably,” Senator Nyutu said.

The impeachment motion against Gachagua accuses the deputy president of several constitutional violations.
The violations include; fanning ethnic tension through making careless utterances, misuse of his authority and intimidation of state officers.
The DP is also accused of abusing his position to advance his personal business interests and acquiring wealth illegally.
Gachagua, who has yet to respond to the impeachment motion tabled on Tuesday, had previously stated that he was prepared for the outcome.
