Ababu Namwamba Lands Lucrative International Job Months After Being Fired By Ruto

Former Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba landed a new job on Sunday, months after President William Ruto dismissed him and other Cabinet secretaries in July this year.

Namwamba announced in a statement that he had been appointed President of the Africa-China Legal Alliance, where he will work on legal frameworks, dispute resolution, and other bilateral issues between Africa and China.

The former CS announced his latest opportunity on social media, saying it was an honor for him to be given such an opportunity.

He also added that he will travel to China to formalise the historic partnership in which his law firm will work closely with another Chinese legal firm – Jingsh Law.

‘’Honoured to accept the position of President of the Africa-China Legal Alliance, inspired by the ground-breaking joint work of Ababu Namwamba Attorneys-at-Law and Chinese Jingsh Law Firm,’’ Namwamba shared.

“Traveling to China shortly to formalize this historic partnership. Justice is a universal language, and the globe is the pinnacle stage for its grandest manifestation. World, our oyster.”

Namwamba, on the other hand, did not reveal any specifics about his new role as President of the Africa-China Legal Alliance, which will require him to collaborate closely with other legal minds from both countries.

Namwamba was a Cabinet Secretary for Sports under current President William Ruto before anti-government protests by Generation Z put pressure on the Head of State to dismiss his Cabinet.

However, after opposition members were included in the new Cabinet, Namwamba was one of the CSs left out. Kipchumba Murkomen succeeded him as Minister.

Namwamba also served as a Member of Parliament for the Budalangi community in the 10th and 11th Parliaments, where he chaired the powerful Public Accounts Committee.

The lawyer also played an important role in convincing the Football International Federation (FIFA) to lift Kenya’s ban.

The country was barred from participating in FIFA’s football activities due to leadership disagreements within the Football Federation of Kenya (FKF).
