TSC Announces Applications For 8,000 Positions To Teachers
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has asked teachers to apply for 19,000 top managerial positions and announced 8,707 vacancies to replace teachers who have left the service.
TSC advertised open vacancies in the official publication MyGov.
They are chief principals, senior principals, principals, deputy principals, senior lecturers, senior masters, a secondary teacher I, senior headteachers (special schools), headteachers, deputy headteachers, and senior teachers.
“The Teachers Service Commission is declaring 8,707 vacancies to replace teachers who exited service through natural attrition, i.e., 5,862 posts for primary schools, 21 posts for junior schools, and 2,824 posts for secondary schools,” reads part of the notice.
According to TSC, these teachers would be on permanent and pensionable contracts.
TSC currently has 44 Chief Principal jobs available. Applicants for this position must have held the level of Senior Principal at T-scale 14 for at least three years and received a good rating on performance reviews and contracts.
They should also display good leadership skills, such as supervising, mentoring, and providing professional assistance to other teachers. Additional requirements may apply, as established by the commission.
Three posts for Chief Principal (Teacher Training College) on T-scale 15 have also been posted.
Eligibility standards are similar to those for other Chief Principal positions, requiring applicants to have served as Senior Principals for at least three years and to have a proven track record of leadership and mentoring.
TSC is looking to fill 126 Senior Principal vacancies in normal secondary schools. Interested candidates must have worked as Principals or Deputy Principals I at T-scale 13 for at least three years.
In addition, there are 652 Principal T-scale 13 positions open. Applicants for these posts must have served as Deputy Principals II or Senior Masters I at T-scale 12 for at least six months.
Teachers who applied for principal positions in prior advertising are urged to apply for these roles as well.
There are three vacancies for Deputy Principal (T-scale 13) at the Teacher Training College. Candidates must have worked as Deputy Principal II, Senior Master I, or Senior Lecturer I at T-scale 12 for at least six months.
Furthermore, 786 seats for Deputy Principal II (post-primary) at T-scale 12 are open for applications. Applicants must have specified experience requirements, which include at least six months of service as Deputy Principal III or Senior Master II at T-scale 11.
The TSC has emphasized that instructors currently serving as principals should apply for these posts to formalize their appointments.

There are 3,653 available Deputy Head Teacher II positions in normal elementary schools. Teachers interested in these posts must have worked as Senior Teacher I at T-scale 8 for at least six months.
The commission has also invited applicants from prior ads with reference number 4/2024 to apply again.
There are 1,408 post-primary Deputy Principal III (T-scale 11) posts available. Additional opportunities include 13 Senior Lecturer I positions, which require candidates to have served as Senior Lecturer II for at least six months.
Other job openings include Senior Lecturer TTC (32 jobs), Senior Master III (1,987 posts), Senior Lecturer III TTC (61 posts), and Secondary Teacher I (184 posts).
