The United States Military, in collaboration with Kenyan forces, has announced plans to host the Justified Accord 2025 exercise in Kenya.

According to a statement issued by the US Ministry of Defense, the initial planning for the event took place at a conference in Vicenza, Italy, from June 10 to June 13.

Notably, the planning event occurred less than a month after U.S. President Joe Biden designated Kenya as a major non-NATO ally, the first in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Furthermore, exercise planners from the US Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) hosted the conference, which was attended by key military leaders and planners from Kenya, Italy, the United Kingdom and The Netherlands.

The Justified Accord exercise will include a multinational field training exercise at the Counter-Insurgency, Terrorism, and Stability Operations Centre (CITSO) in Nanyuki, Kenya.

Some of the planned exercises will include military tactic drills, such as multinational air-to-ground integration, in which partner nation forces control Kenyan air assets to support ground maneuvers.

This aspect of the exercise tests and improves the coordination of air and ground units, which is an important component of modern military operations.

Given the scope of the exercise, the planning conference in Italy focused on fine-tuning the operational framework and ensuring that all participating forces were ready for the challenges.

Discussions during the planning exercise focused on the coordination of activities, resource allocation, and the development of training scenarios that reflect real-world security challenges.

“The initial planning event is focused on building a detailed plan that focuses on interoperability, readiness, and ensuring everything is joint and combined since that is the way we will operate in a crisis,” said Mr. Eldridge Browne, chief of exercises, SETAF-AF.

Justified Accord, a multinational military exercise, includes training and drills for several countries.

The Justified Accord 24 was also held in Kenya, with the mission set to end on March 7, 2024.

This year’s exercise brought together 1000 personnel from 23 countries.
