Ruto To Meet Kenya Kwanza MPs Tuesday On Morning Before Finance Bill Voting
Kenya Kwanza Coalition members of Parliament have vowed to criticize Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during a meeting scheduled for Tuesday morning, Majority Chief Whip Sylvanus Osoro revealed.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday morning at State House and will include the Head of State and all Kenya Kwanza legislators prior to a parliamentary session.
Osoro revealed on Monday that reprimanding Gachagua will be on the agenda for Ruto’s meeting with UDA MPs tomorrow.
Speaking to journalists, Osoro stated that Gachagua’s politics were tribal, as evidenced by his stance on “Mountain’s Politics”.
“We also expect him to tell his deputy to stop being tribal and focus on his national agenda. If the President doesn’t, then the members will tell the DP that he is a bit too tribal in his politics,” stated Osoro
Furthermore, Osoro stated that Gachagua’s stance on the One Man, One Shilling, One Vote debate was divisive, claiming that it was intended to marginalize specific communities.
There are also allegations that the Deputy President has absconded duty on several occasions when the President is involved.
According to media reports, the DP failed to pick up the President at the airport after his return from Switzerland on Monday.
However, despite rising tensions within the UDA Camp, there are reports that the President called the meeting to rally support for the 2024 Finance Bill.
According to media reports on Monday evening, UDA MPs were invited to the meeting along with their counterparts known as Azimio rebels and independent MPs who have been working with the Ruto administration and supporting the Kenya Kwanza agenda.
This meeting takes place against the backdrop of the Finance Committee’s report to Parliament on Tuesday, which follows the conclusion of public participation exercises on the Finance Bill.
The Committee is expected to present the bill despite growing opposition from Kenyans across the country.
