Nyeri Governor Tells Ruto To Do What Gen Z Wants And Skip Dialogue Calls
Mutahi Kahiga, the governor of Nyeri, has openly criticized President William Ruto’s approach to addressing the country’s challenges.
Kahiga, a staunch supporter of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has called for more decisive and responsive leadership that meets the needs of Kenya’s youth.
Governor Kahiga expressed deep concern about President Ruto’s inner circle’s advice in a tone that was both respectful and urgent.

“With a lot of humility and respect, I address my president, William Ruto, and tell him that there are men and women around you who you could be calling advisers, but you are in the hole you are today because of the misadvice they have given you,” he stated.
Kahiga’s remarks come at a time when the country is dealing with socioeconomic issues and political unrest caused by Generation Z.
The county boss urged President Ruto to take a step back and reassess the country’s current situation.
“A wise man wakes one morning, has a retrospection on himself, and sees the way things are,” he added.
“It does not matter who is close to you. In politics, it is your skin that matters, and this is a nation whose existence and survival are in your hands.”
The governor emphasized the importance of decisive action, stating that the promises made by President Ruto during his campaign would not be fulfilled in the current political environment.
“You made so many promises, but they will not be achieved in this political atmosphere,” Kahiga noted.
Reflecting on the voices of Kenya’s youth, Kahiga emphasized that Gen Z’s demands should be at the forefront of future political strategies.
“The Gen Zs have made their demands clear. You engaged with them, and they told you what they wanted. None of their demands was to put up a 150-member team to negotiate,” he pointed out.
“If they tell you to reorganize your cabinet, please do it. If they say sack it, do it. There are 50 million Kenyans who can fit in those offices.”
Kahiga’s passionate plea reflects a growing sentiment among Kenyans who believe the current administration is out of touch with their needs.
He warned that continuing to disconnect from reality could have serious consequences for the country.
“If you continue moving away from reality, it will hit us hard. You have a golden opportunity, this is a defining moment. Think about the nation and do the best you can,” he urged.
Governor Kahiga’s speech is a clear call to President Ruto to reconsider his leadership style and take bold steps to align his administration with the aspirations of Kenya’s youth.
