ODM Demands Ruto To Dismiss IG Koome, Arrest ALL Rogue Officers
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party demanded that President William Ruto dismiss the Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome, and the Nairobi Region Police Commander.
During his press conference, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna urged the Head of State to take action against police officers who allegedly injured protesters.
The party also called on the government to compensate all victims of the recent protests, including those killed and injured.
According to ODM, firing nearly all cabinet secretaries was a good start, but there is still a sense of fear throughout the country.

“Ruto must immediately fire the IG of Police, the Nairobi Police commander and apprehend all Police Officers implicated in the murders of over 200 innocent,” ODM stated.
“Kenyans in peaceful protests since last year. We call for a national amnesty for all persons arrested or charged in connection with protests and compensation for all victims of police brutality.”
Nonetheless, Edwin Sifuna’s camp stated that it was willing to work with President Ruto’s administration to develop measures that would restore long-term peace and stability.

According to ODM, the new measures will help address long-standing issues such as unemployment, the never-ending quest for justice and equality, combating corruption, and negative ethnicity.
“This conversation in our view must come ahead of other conversations on the structure of our national governance going forward,” Sifuna stated.
“As a party, ODM has never shied away from stepping up and having difficult conversations whenever the destiny of our nation is at stake.”
ODM stated that the emerging issues and the pressing need to address them were not about saving the Kenya Kwanza regime.
Sifuna believed that the nation was larger and more distinct than anyone else.
“We therefore welcome these developments in the hope that they will mark the beginning of honest and earnest efforts to address the myriad issues expressed by disappointed and angry youths.”
