Gov’t Official Chased Off Stage By Gen Zs At Slain Protestor’s Funeral Service

On Saturday, a Machakos County minister was forced to flee for her life after being met with hostility during a funeral service.

Rita Ndunge, who heads the Roads docket in Machakos County, was at the funeral of Erickson Kyalo Mutisya, who died during anti-government protests.

Mutisya, from Kisekini Village in the Thinu area, died while protesting the Finance Bill, 2024, which has since been withdrawn.

Rita Ndunge was the highest-ranking official from Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s administration who attended the event.

The Master of Ceremonies (MC) invited Rita Ndunge to the stage to greet mourners and eulogize the deceased young man.

Rita Ndunge hesitated to take the microphone, begging the MC to let her pass up the opportunity.

Rita Ndunge finally took the microphone and asked for justice for Mutisya. The audience began heckling her and requesting that she leave the stage.

As the mourners continued to boo, a Gen Z member stormed to the stage and grabbed the microphone from her.

Fearing for her safety, she quickly descended from the stage and vanished into the crowd.

“I just wanted her to greet you,” the MC apologised to the worked-up crowd.

This occurred two days after Governor Wavinya Ndeti claimed that her political opponents planned to send young men to her office.

“I am ready to dialogue with Machakos Gen Zs. I know many of them are jobless and the economy is not favourable,” the Governor had also earlier indicated.
