Gachagua Advises Ruto To Choose ‘A Focused And Competent’ Cabinet
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua urged Kenyans on Wednesday to support President William Ruto in his efforts to appoint the right cabinet secretaries.
Speaking at Bishop Allan Kiuna’s burial ceremony in Kiambu, the DP praised the Head of State for his bold and pragmatic decision to dissolve the cabinet.
Gachagua went on to urge President Ruto to consider appointing competent and focused cabinet secretaries, stating that a leader is only as good as his team.
“That is why we support President Ruto for his very pragmatic and courageous decision to dissolve his cabinet and come up with a new team that is focused and competent,” Gachagua stated.

According to the DP, the president had the best opportunity to assemble a strong team of patriotic Kenyans who were not corrupt or arrogant and were committed to service delivery.
While addressing the congregation, the second-in-command requested that church members pray for the president so that he could assemble the right team of CSs.
“God has given him a chance to come up with a good team of patriotic Kenyans who are not corrupt, who are not arrogant and who are serious about service delivery,” the DP reiterated.
“Our president needs your prayers. Please pray for him and I am sure he will get God’s favour to pick the right team and put the country on the right trajectory.”
Rigathi Gachagua’s comments come just a fortnight after President Ruto fired nearly all of his cabinet secretaries.
Ruto, speaking to the press at State House in Nairobi, stated that only the offices of the Deputy President and Prime Cabinet Secretary were unaffected.
According to the President, the decision was in line with Kenyans’ demands during the recent nationwide demonstrations.
“Upon reflection and listening keenly to what the people of Kenya have said and after holistic appraisal of the performance of my Cabinet and its achievements and challenges,” Ruto disclosed.
“I have today in line with the powers given to me decided to dismiss with immediate effect all the CSs and AG except the PCS and CS for Foreign Affairs and the office of the DP is not affected in any way.”
