‘I am Ready!’ – Duale Says After Ruto Nominates Him Back To Defence Ministry

Former Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has expressed gratitude to President Ruto for nominating him for a similar position.

In a post on his X account, Duale stated that the nomination reflects the President’s and Kenyans’ trust in his ability to advance national security.

“This nomination reflects the President’s and the Kenyan people’s profound trust and confidence in my ability to advance our nation’s agenda and more particularly the national security of our nation hence contribute to its greatness,” Duale said.

He has stated that he is prepared and willing to present himself to the National Assembly committee for review and public scrutiny.

“Am ready and willing to present myself to the relevant National Assembly for vetting and public scrutiny,” Duale said.

Duale has been the Defense Ministry’s Chief of Staff since October 2022, until July of this year, when President Ruto dissolved his Cabinet.

Duale has been renominated in Ruto’s cabinet, along with five other former CSs, including Kithure Kindiki (Interior). Alice Wahome (Public Works), Davis Chirchir (Roads) and Soipan Tuya(Environment).

He was the Majority Party Leader in the National Assembly, serving in the 11th and 12th Parliaments until July 2020 (eight years).

This is a senior government office within Kenya’s Parliament that was established under the Kenyan Constitution of 2010.

He was first elected to parliament in 2007, and re-elected in 2013, 2017, and 2022.

Duale was a Member of Parliament for Garissa Township Constituency and a ranking member of the Public Accounts Committee during the 12th Parliament.
