Kenya Police Shoots A Student While On The Way Home From School
The family of a fifteen-year-old student from Nyahururu has raised concerns after their daughter was shot on Tuesday evening.
The Bishop Louis Ngarenaro mixed-day secondary school student is recovering from rubber bullet wounds on her left leg sustained in an encounter with police near her home in Nyahururu.
According to the student, she was on her way home when a police vehicle passed by, and the officers shot her down.
While recounting the incident, the student stated that the impact of the shooting knocked her unconscious, and she only awoke in the hospital.

“I was on my way from school when a police vehicle, reached up to me when I was almost home, and the police shot at me with rubber bullets,” she stated.
The student went on to say that the injuries to her leg forced the doctors to stitch her up six times.
Following the incident, the parents described being forced to carry her to and from school while the students were taking exams.
The parents are also calling on the government to resolve the current unrest in order to prevent similar incidents in the future.
They have also urged authorities to launch an investigation and identify the police officer who committed the heinous act.
The Tuesday incident adds to a growing list of alleged police brutality against protestors during the nationwide protests.
On June 27, residents in Rongai witnessed a brutal use of force by police, who fired live bullets to disperse protestors.
Unfortunately, a child was shot and later died as a result of his injuries.
