MP Kaluma Claims Demos Are Over, Demands Police To Arrest Protesters
Homa Bay Town MP Peter Opondo Kaluma has called on the National Police Service to arrest protesters, claiming that lawful demonstrations against the recently withdrawn punitive Finance Bill 2024 have ended.
On Friday, August 9, 2024, Kaluma stated that the current protesters were ‘saboteurs’.
The right to demonstrate exists to advance good courses.

The remarks follow Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition party spokesperson Makau Mutua’s statement that the clamour by the young generation Zs was over and that the country should strive to achieve the ideals championed by youth.

The nominee for Attorney General of Kenya, Dorcas Oduor, emphasised the need to operationalize the Victims Compensation Act and board, which is domiciled at the office of the Attorney General.
Oduor said this while appearing before a parliament committee on appointments on Friday.
