Another Kenyan Journalist Lands Lucrative Job At The BBC

Sarafina Robi, a Kenyan journalist, has landed a lucrative job after being recruited by the British Broadcasting Corporation.

The journalist’s new job marks her departure from the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), where she previously worked as a news anchor and reporter for six years.

Sarafina anchors news on KBC TV every Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m., focusing on stories about the environment, science, and human interest.

Sarafina announced her departure from KBC with an Instagram post in which she reflected on her time there.

“I still remember the first time I received a call to start working at KBC, I was so excited I cried so much! For six years, I have met people who have molded me into the journalist I am today,” the post read.

“Today I cried a lot saying goodbye because I am not so good at goodbyes and I had gotten pretty attached to the national broadcaster.”

Sarafina expressed gratitude to KBC for guiding her as a journalist and emphasizing the importance of professionalism.

“KBC has taught me the importance of being professional, given me some pretty good work ethic na for that nitawamiss sana lakini tutakutana field,” she mentioned.

Sarafina describes herself on her LinkedIn profile as a multimedia journalist with extensive experience in all aspects of journalism.

She has been covering environmental and science stories for over five years, including impactful feature stories, summit coverage, and interviews with major industry players from various sectors.

Sarafina has also worked as a court reporter, producing stories in areas such as health, education, and technology.

In 2024, she was nominated and advanced to the finals of the 12th Annual Journalism Excellence Awards for Development and Public Relations Affairs Reporting.

She is also a board member of a non-governmental organization that pursued to empower girls, boys and advocate against FGM.
