Uhuru Aide Named Managing Director At Tony Blair Institute

On December 11, Nzioka Waita, former Chief of Staff and Head of the Delivery Unit at the Executive Office of the Fourth President, was designated Managing Director-Africa Advisory at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.

The former advisor to President Uhuru Kenyatta has earned a key post at the worldwide organization formed by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who serves as Executive Chairperson.

While announcing his new role, Nzioka emphasized his enthusiasm for joining the firm where he had previously worked as an independent advisor.

Nzioka recognized his tenure in government by introducing him to the global corporation.

“When I took on the Delivery role, it introduced me to a whole new world of thinking, informed in most part by the realpolitik of governance,” Nzioka stated.

“It is this thinking that brought me to the doorstep of Rt. Hon Tony Blair, former British Prime Minister and Executive Chairperson of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.”

“This brings me to the new, exciting phase of my career in 2024. It is my honour today to announce that I have joined the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change as Managing Director – Africa Advisory,” he announced.

Nzioka expressed his enthusiasm about working with the organization to help them achieve their purpose, which is focused on utilizing new-age techniques to promote global political change.

“I will be privileged to work alongside kindred spirits, a team of like-minded thinkers, doers, and trusted advisors who are committed to supporting political leaders across diverse geographies to execute their mandates effectively whilst leveraging the benefits of technology and the efficient design of their governments for impact and results,” he asserted.

The Tony Blair Institute expressed its satisfaction with Nzioka’s coming to the firm, citing his years of experience in strategy, policy, and delivery.

“We are delighted to announce that Nzioka Waita is joining TBI as our new Managing Director for Africa Advisory,” they noted.

“Recently, he worked with TBI as an independent advisor to support our teams around the world driving radical but practical policy solutions for leaders,” they added.

They continued: “Nzioka arrives with skills and capabilities that embody the best of TBI’s value proposition as advisors to political leaders on strategy, policy, and delivery – all enabled by technology.

“He is the former Chief of Staff to the (former) President of Kenya, a position he assumed after founding the President’s delivery unit.”

Nzioka spent 14 years with a regional telecoms corporation, eventually rising to the rank of Director of Corporate Affairs.

As leader of the Delivery Unit, his duty was to create the vehicle that would serve as a bridge between political promise and administrative bureaucracy.

He has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Sheffield and a Master of Laws in Corporate and Communications Law from Queen Mary University of London.
