Wamuchomba Launches A Scathing Attack On Ruto Over Livestock Vaccinations

Githunguri Member of Parliament (MP), Gathoni Wamuchomba, criticized President William Ruto on Wednesday over the planned mass vaccination of cows.

Through her official X handle, the member slammed Ruto for using harsh words toward leaders who expressed concerns about government initiatives, particularly the topic of mass livestock vaccination.

“It’s very sad when our president uses figurative language to cast aspersions on leaders who raise concerns on government decisions on matters that may interfere with the welfare and livelihoods of the people, they represent such as the cow’s vaccination program,” she stated.

The legislator vowed to do all it takes to fight the immunization, which she claimed was carried out without public input.

“It’s my duty to flag and oppose directives that my people don’t agree with and seek clarifications. The intolerance only shows a quality of a leader hell-bent on ruling by the fist,” she added condemning the Kenya Kwanza regime for turning its back on Kenyans.

Wamuchomba’s answer came a day after Ruto launched a harsh attack on leaders who rejected the government’s proposal to vaccinate 22 million cows starting in January 2025.

Ruto spoke at the Pastoralist Leadership Summit in Wajir County on Tuesday, claiming that there were ‘bad spirits’ among those who opposed his administration.

“There is an evil spirit in Kenya that is resident in some leaders, they churn out falsehood and oppose everything for the sake of opposing,” Ruto had said.

Wamuchomba, a close supporter of Gachagua, stated that Kenya is a democratic society that allows for the expression of diverse viewpoints, and that calling out leaders will not be permitted.

“Our democracy will not accommodate such styles and will only deepen the level of political intolerance,” she added.

The Githunguri MP stated that Ruto should listen to the people who elected him.

“The President may not listen to me but he should listen to religious leaders’ concerns on Social Health Authority (SHA) and proposed cow vaccines,” she asserted.

On November 21, Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development Andrew Karanja assured Kenyans of the vaccines’ safety.

The assurance came after Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka opposed the government’s proposal to vaccinate cows.

Previously, President Ruto announced the widespread vaccination deployment in Narok on November 8, 2024, claiming that it would help protect the worldwide market for cattle products.
