The Mjadala Afrika debate, scheduled for Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., will give a forum for candidates to express their thoughts, ideas, and priorities on numerous policies that will help the AU achieve its 2063 Agenda.
“The debate concentrates on policy issues and a solutions-oriented attention on how each candidate intends to advance the realisation of the Aspirations and Goals of Agenda 2063, other AU projects with continental focus, and Common African Positions,” the AUC noted.
The debate, which will be broadcast throughout the continent, will include an opportunity for African members to offer questions as the discussion unfolds.

Encouraged public engagement aims to guarantee that the discourse covers the African people’s concerns and aspirations.
The AUC encourages public participation during the discussion by having member nations watch on various networks and send questions via the X platform @_AfricanUnion.
There will be two moderators, one speaking English and the other speaking French. The live broadcast will be carried by all 55 AU member states’ public broadcasters, including Citizen TV in Kenya.

The ODM party leader has drafted a ten-point manifesto in the hopes of persuading member states to vote for him and securing the top position.
He will square up against Djibouti’s current Foreign Affairs Minister, Mahmoud Ali, and Madagascar’s former Foreign Affairs Minister, Richard Randriamandrato. Mahmoud Ali is regarded as Raila’s most formidable adversary.
Anil Kumarsingh Gayan, the former Mauritius Foreign Affairs Minister, withdrew earlier this month.
Raila’s ten-point strategy focuses on economic transformation, infrastructure development, financial independence, gender equity and equality, agricultural transformation, climate action, harnessing youth potential, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.

Following the opening comments, the debate panel will moderate a question-and-answer session, followed by reactions from members of the continent, both online and in the debate hall.
The debate is intended to clear the path and frame the contest for Moussa Faki’s successor, whose term expires in February 2025.
