UDA Senator Writes To Speaker Kingi Demanding Special Session Over Abductions
Nyandarua Senator John Methu has written to Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, urging him to hold a special session to tackle the outstanding abduction cases that are now rocking the country.
In a letter released by the congressman via his X account on Monday, January 6, Methu stated that the calls for a stop to abductions were a national issue that required Parliamentary intervention.
Senator Methu stated that the ongoing kidnapping of Kenyans caused significant national concern since it violated the core human rights and freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution.
“Notwithstanding the provisions of Standing Order No. 33 (1), I wish to request your approval for a Special Sitting of the Senate to deliberate on a matter of critical national importance, namely: The end of forced abductions and disappearances of young government critics,” read part of Methu’s letter.
Parliament cannot just keep quiet on the National debate of #stopabduction . I've written to Speaker Rt. @HonAmasonKingi to reconvene the Senate to dig into this matter.

Addressing Speaker Kingi, the Senator also slammed the National Police Service (NPS) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for allegedly distancing themselves from the ongoing menace.
While criticizing the two security agencies, the legislature asserted that the accused abductors belonged to a well-known syndicate whose goal was to suppress government dissidents.
“Mr Speaker, this House must take the necessary steps to demand immediate action by the Government to stop these illegal and unconstitutional practices,” Methu told Speaker Kingi.

Methu’s request for special seating comes amid widespread outrage among Kenyans, who have threatened to hold statewide protests over the increasing number of abductions.
The rallies were slated to begin today (Monday) at 9:00 a.m., as Kenyans sought to urge the government to intervene and locate those abducted.
Amidst demands for protests, four abductees were released, including social media personalities Billy Mwangi and Peter Muteti, who were discovered alive on Monday, January 6.
The trio was released alongside Cartoonist Kibet Bull’s brothers Ronny Kiplagat and Benard Kavuli, who were discovered alive in Machakos County and Kitale respectively.
