Woman Disgraced By Pastor Ng’ang’a Offered Affordable Housing Unit

Kenyans who acquired Affordable Housing units from the government will own their homes within the next two months.

This comes after an announcement that completed units in Mukuri, Nairobi, would be turned over to the public.

Milka Moraa is one of several Kenyans who will profit from the project. What started as an embarrassment evolved into a story of grass to grace for her.

If you’re familiar with the streets of social media, you’ve heard about Milka Moraa before.

Moraa gained prominence because renowned televangelist Pastor James Ng’ang’a humiliated her on television as she sought his assistance.

Milka’s landlord had locked her out after she failed to raise the rent.

She hurried to Ng’ang’a, expecting her pastor to help her, only to be met with insult and disgrace when he told her to look for affordable housing if she couldn’t afford her rent.

The video received varied reactions from Kenyans who couldn’t believe the pastor’s behavior. Supporters, including police officer Sammy Ondimu, raised Ksh392,000 for her.

In addition, the police assisted her in securing one of the recently finished Mukuru Affordable Housing Units.

“I was really heartbroken when the pastor humiliated me while I told him my predicaments, but I remained hopeful and it has turned out great,” Moraa told journalists.

Milka bought a studio flat, also known as a ‘Bedsitter,’ for Ksh640,000.

“Moraa lives in Mukuru, she pays a rent of Ksh4,000 per month which she was unable to raise,” Sheila Waweru, Ag CEO of Affordable Housing, said.

“Luckily, because of Kenyans of goodwill, she now has a job where she is being paid Ksh18,000. With that, she will be able to afford a house at Mukuru which will be released soon.”

The inexpensive housing studio flat will cost Moraa Ksh640,000. She has the option of paying the full cost immediately or using the rent-to-own plan, which requires her to pay Ksh3,900 every month.

Moraa has recently moved from a tiny 9.2 square foot room packed with personal belongings and water jerrycans.

The atmosphere constituted a health danger owing to filthy water in a tiny studio flat among Mukuru’s 13,000 inexpensive housing units.

In her new home, she will have access to clean water, articulated gas, an automated elevator, and social amenities. Her children will appreciate attending a school within the compound.

“I’d like to thank the government and Kenyans for helping me and ask that may they continue to help me,” a grateful Moraa said.

President William Ruto will officially inaugurate the houses over the following two months.
