“We reiterate our commitment to comply with constitutional standards of human rights and fundamental freedoms,” the statement read in part.
The police have been accused of violating human rights by kidnapping people without their will.
Human rights organizations have reported that over 82 young people have been kidnapped since the start of the Gen-Z demonstrations in June 2024.
In response, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja denied any police involvement in the abductions, stating that such charges are intended to ruin the police service’s reputation.
