Uhuru Kenyatta CS Visits Wamunyoro For ‘Consultations’ With Gachagua
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has continued his consultation meetings with leaders from all walks of life as the launch of his political organization approaches.
Gachagua postponed the unveiling of his political vehicle from February 2 to allow for further consultations.
He stated that he will release his interim report on the direction of the Mt Kenya region on Sunday, “and also ask you for more time to enable me to continue listening to more views.”
In accordance with this request, Gachagua said he met with former Cabinet Secretary Cecily Kariuki at his Wamunyoro house in Nyeri county on Friday evening.
Kariuki held various cabinet ministries under President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government, including Health, Water, and Public Service.
“We had an engaging discussion on various issues affecting our nation, and I got an opportunity to tap into her vast experience on governance issues,” Gachagua said.
Early this evening I met with Sicily Kariuki, a long serving Cabinet Minister (and a former PS) in President Uhuru Kenyatta's government.

“Sicily, who is also a prominent leader from Nyandarua county, also shared with me her thoughts on matters pertaining to this great county that I consider my second home,” he added.
Gachagua stated that the former CS gave him her memoirs ‘Breaking the Illusions’ during the visit, which she made with her husband Kariuki Chege and a few friends.
“The consultations continue,” he said.
The former DP returned to his remote home in Wamunyoro shortly after being impeached on October 17, 2024.
He’s been talking with leaders across the country as he prepares to return to national politics.

The approaching presentation of his own political organization is considered the ultimate strategy to oppose his former boss, President William Ruto, in the 2027 general elections.
However, Gachagua is still fighting in court to overturn his impeachment.
Gachagua, speaking on January 27 during the unveiling of the new DAP-Kenya party headquarters in Karen, Nairobi, stated his new party will upset Kenya’s political scene and render some parties ineffective.
He stated that the new outfit will have a national perspective while being rooted in Mt Kenya.

“The people from the mountain have said they were going for a wedding with a hired vehicle; when we got to the river, we were told to disembark. Now we are looking for our own vehicle,” he said.
He claimed that he was under intense pressure from the region to reveal the party, to the point where he was having trouble sleeping.
“People are impatient, and they don’t want to see anything yellow… we want to join forces with the others…,” he said.
“And nobody should tell us we are being tribal because we are strengthening our base; you would be stupid to go to the national table before you organise your house.”
