Gachagua Speaks On Forgiving Ruto After Claims Of Treason

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has stated that Mt Kenya locals will forgive President William Ruto despite claims of treason, but that the region will never forget it.

Gachagua stated that the Mt Kenya region will be discussed widely before determining which candidate to support.

The former DP was addressed during Bishop George Gathari’s consecration service on Saturday in Olkalou constituency, Nyandarua County.

He claimed that the populous region would consider each leader’s track record before opting to endorse the favored choices.

According to Gachagua, the Mt Kenya region was tricked into supporting President Ruto, but once he became the country’s Head of State, he ignored the region.

“I had a friend who we worked with and whom I helped very much, he used to call me Riggy G and Baba Kevin, but now he is pretending not to know me, he is now calling me a tribalist,” Gachagua said.

“Now we only depend on God because human beings are unpredictable, some of us especially people from this region are now very careful, if someone comes to us now, we will do a thorough background check,” he added.

Gachagua also criticized the government for the rise in abductions, using the day’s sermon on forgiveness.

He also stated that the perpetrators of young people’s abductions and killings would be pardoned but not forgotten.

He emphasized that the young Kenyans did not deserve to be kidnapped or slain simply because they disagreed with Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government.

The former DP also commented on his political friends’ recent departure from important Senate positions, saying they were now free to question the administration about blocked regional projects.

Kiambu Senator Karungo Wa Thang’wa was among those who were ousted from their respective Senate committee duties as the Chairperson of the Roads and Transport Committee.

Thang’wa was fired alongside his Nyandarua counterpart, John Methu.

Methu was removed from his positions as Chairperson of the Senate’s Lands and Environment Committee and member of the County Public Accounts Committee.

“Those who have been removed from parliamentary seats should not worry, including my friend Methu, those seats are just flowers, the main seat is the one which you hold on behalf of Nyandarua people,” Methu stated.

“As long as these residents are happy with you, you do not have a problem, so do not be worried about being removed from the position of a committee chairperson in parliament.”
