Gachagua Hosts Clergy For ‘Counsel, Fellowship’ Meetings In Wamunyoro

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has stepped up his efforts to broaden his support base, focusing on religious leaders.

Gachagua has hosted several clergy members at his Wamunyoro home for two days in a row as part of his faith-based outreach plan.

This comes as he intensifies contacts with political figures in the Mount Kenya region to shore up his support ahead of the 2027 elections.

On Saturday, Gachagua welcomed a team of religious leaders from Mount Kenya West in an effort to shore up his support in the region.

The delegation was led by the Bishop-Elect of Mount Kenya West, Venerable Canon Reverend Gerald Mureithi, and his crew.

Gachagua added that they discussed numerous concerns affecting the region and that he was able to hear the bishop’s views on things he is actively involved in.

“I was also honoured to receive his invitation for his consecration on March 23, 2025,” Gachagua said.

“Bishop-Elect Mureithi, whose surname aptly translates to ‘shepherd,’ is clearly the leader God has called to guide the Christians of Mount Kenya West during this season.

“I look forward to working with him to positively impact our region and our great nation.”

Gachagua attended a worship service with PCEA Church ministers and clergy in his Wamunyoro home on Friday morning.

He stated that church leaders from all presbyteries in the Mount Kenya region encouraged him with God’s word and prayed for him on many concerns and decisions he has made and continues to make.

“They also shared their perspectives on national matters and offered advice on what they believe should be done for the betterment of the country and its citizens,” he wrote on X.

Gachagua, who met with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and DAP-K chairman Eugene Wamalwa on Wednesday, is aggressively seeking to expand his political power by reaching out to other politicians.

On Tuesday, he also met with former Justice Minister Martha Karua, who recently relaunched Narc Kenya as the People’s Liberation Party (PLP).

“This afternoon, at our Wamunyoro residence, I met slightly over 80 former MCAs and councillors from across Nairobi County,” Gachagua said on his X account.
