‘Without Raila, Ruto Will Be No More!’ – Gachagua Claims
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has delivered a strong message to ODM party leader Raila Odinga, encouraging him to consider joining his political vehicle to oppose President William Ruto in the 2027 General Elections.
Speaking at a church session at the Gospel Confirmation Center in Machakos, the outspoken former DP claimed that Ruto was losing authority ahead of the next elections.
In a fiery tirade directed at Ruto, Gachagua said that the president’s political survival was greatly dependent on Raila.
“The President’s current life support is Raila Odinga. If we switch it off, it will be the end,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua also urged the ODM leader to join his camp but remained certain that he could defeat the President without the former Prime Minister’s assistance.
“If the mzee (Raila) and he (Ruto) want to team up, there is no problem. Our journey is unstoppable with or without him,” the former DP added.
“We are not desperate for his participation. The numbers are good and it will be an easy job.”

Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu shared the former DP’s thoughts, cautioning Raila not to place too much trust in the president.
The senator cited Gachagua’s feud with Ruto and eventual impeachment as a prime example of how political allegiances may shift abruptly.

“Raila cannot sit at the same table with Ruto. If Ruto could impeach Gachagua after he brought him 5 million votes, what about Raila?” Nyutu posed.
“Whether Raila joins us or not, that is okay, but one thing we have decided is we must take Ruto home.”
The political maneuvering comes as Kenyans await Raila’s next move after his unsuccessful bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson.

While Raila has been cryptic about his next political moves, he has told his fans that he will reveal his decision in due course.
Despite his collaborative approach with Ruto, the ODM party leader has never shied away from criticizing the government, especially on issues impacting ordinary Kenyans.
Raila, in one of his most recent remarks on Sunday, urged Ruto’s administration to compensate victims of protests dating back to 2023.
Gachagua expressed confidence that the Gema community could effectively unseat Ruto if they banded together, underlining that they could do so even without Raila’s help.
